What happens during a root canal procedure?

During root canal treatment in Neutral Bay, our dentists gently remove the infected tissue from your tooth through a small access hole on top.

When they ensure there is no remaining infection, they will seal it with a temporary filling to allow it time to heal.

Once the tooth is completely healed, we rebuild and strengthen it with a permanent crown or filling. Strengthening your tooth ensures that you'll be able to chew and eat comfortably and with ease again.

Does a Root Canal Hurt?

A common myth around root canals is that the procedure is painful. This couldn't be further from the truth!

Root canal treatment actually relieves your pain and discomfort because it eliminates your tooth infection. The treatment also protects your natural tooth from an extraction that would be needed if the infection rendered your tooth unsalvagable.

Our dentists use local anesthetics to numb your infected tooth, so we ensure you don't feel anything during your root canal treatment. The anesthetic also alleviates your pain, bringing you immediate relief. Our team goes above and beyond to ensure your comfort throughout your procedure.

Please don't wait to contact your Neutral Bay emergency dentist if you or a loved one are in pain.

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
